Finding the right counselor is important!  You need someone approachable that you’re comfortable with and someone who listens. Therapy is a conversation with someone you can trust.

ABOUT ME:

My name is Denise Ibrahim and I’m a counselor, a wife and a mom. My husband is an engineer and we’ve been married for 20+ years. We have three children, two dogs named Molly and Sophie, a cat named Lily, a rabbit and a horse. Along with our many animals, we also foster rescue dogs, which has become an exciting and sometimes very loud adventure.

I’m a tea-drinker who enjoys spending time with my family and friends, reading, cooking, going for walks, and traveling.

I serve my community as a library Board Member, and a racial justice advocate partnering with school districts, organizations, and churches to bring awareness about racism.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

I have worked in various social services and collegiate settings for the past 25 years. I’m a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor, Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Certified LENS Neurofeedback provider and HeartMath provider.

After earning a bachelor's degree in Psychology at a small college in Oregon, I moved to Wisconsin earning a master’s degree in Educational Rehabilitation Counseling. Since then I’ve worked in local mental health centers in both Oregon and Washington, as well as both public and private sectors of Rehabilitation Counseling, Vocational Counseling and coaching. I’ve been a Family Therapist doing crisis home based interventions, worked at a graduate school, in a hospital outpatient Traumatic Brain Injury Unit and have experience as a Disability Consultant/Counselor. I’ve led various groups both professionally and personally for close to 30 years.

I have personal experience with grief & loss.

When I decided to open my own private counseling office, I wanted to become certified as a LENS Neurofeedback provider because it fit well with my experience and background of working with people with disabilities, my holistic approach to therapy, and my goals of helping others become their best selves. I’ve also become a certified neuroscience-informed therapist.

I offer a free 20-minute phone consultation for new clients and would love to meet you.  To schedule a free phone consult, please click here.
